| This week's PBA Spare shots
PBA stars inducted into ABC Hall of Fame On Thursday, March 14, Pete Weber and Norm Duke were inducted into the American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame. The ceremony took place in Billings, Montana, where the 2002 ABC Tournament is being held. Since both professionals were competed in the Battle At Little Creek, Virginia Beach, Va., this week, the two had others accept on their behalf. Pete Weber had his father and PBA legend, Dick Weber, accept. The two are only the second father/son duo to be inducted into the ABC Hall of Fame in the performance category. (The late Nelson Burton Sr. (1964) and Nelson Burton Jr. (1981) were the first father-son duo inducted.) They are also both members of the PBA Hall of Fame and are the only father/son duo in the PBA Hall of Fame. Norm Duke had Dale Niemela, executive director of pro staff and promotions for AMF bowling, accept on his behalf. Duke is not in the PBA Hall of Fame. At the Battle at Little Creek tourney, Weber lost in the round of 32 to Tony Reyes and Norm Duke lost in the round of 16 to Patrick Healey Jr. Parker Bohn III strengthens 2002 PBA Player of the Year bid Parker Bohn III captured his 29th PBA title on March 17 in the Battle of Little Creek, Virginia Beach, Va., adding his fifth win of the 2001 - 2002 season and making him fourth on the PBA’s all-time win list. Bohn’s win amplified his chances for capturing the 2002 PBA Player of the Year honors. The award is voted on by the PBA membership. The entire 2001 - 2002 season will be included in the statistics for voting and will include 30 events. Bohn leads the tour in every statistical category. Other considerations for the honors are Pete Weber, Walter Ray Williams Jr. and Jason Couch. The final 2001 - 2002 season statistics are as follow: Events Wins Cashes Match Play TV Apps.
