| ABC Masters champ Brett Wolfe voted BWAA Bowler of the Month
Brett Wolfe was selected Bowling Writers Association of America Bowler of the Month for January by a select panel of the organization, BWAA President Fran Deken announced today. On January 20 in his hometown of Reno, Nev., Wolfe, a 25-year-old left-hander, defeated four-time Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) titlist Dennis Horan Jr. of Temecula, Calif., 269-172 to win the $100,000 top prize at the American Bowling Congress (ABC) Masters at the National Bowling Stadium. Wolfe, who works full-time for Coca-Cola North America as a business development manager, was competing in his first ABC Masters and was the first amateur bowler in history to qualify as the tournament leader in this event. Ricky Ward of North Fort Myers, Fla., who won the PBA Medford (Ore.) Open, finished second in Las Vegas, and placed third at the ABC Masters, was runner-up in the balloting. |
