Professional Bowlers Association to re-name Seattle stop after Hall of Famer Earl Anthony

PBA Earl Anthony Memorial Classic To Take Place January 2

SEATTLE, (November 28) – The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) will re-name their upcoming Seattle tournament the PBA Earl Anthony Memorial Classic in honor of the most accomplished bowler in PBA history. The tournament will take place January 2 through January 6 at Tech City Bowl in Kirkland, Washington. The finals will be telecast live on ESPN January 6 at 1:00 p.m. ET.

"The PBA lost a legend and a great ambassador when Earl passed away," said PBA President and CEO Steve Miller. "We had planned to honor him at our first tournament stop in September, but the tragic events of September 11 caused us to cancel and re-group. We believe since Earl was a native of Tacoma, Washington this is a great way to honor him annually."

During the tournament PBA members will wear a commemorative patch with the number "41," signifying the number of championships Anthony won during his 14-year career. The PBA will also make a presentation to the Anthony family, and ESPN will air a special vignette on Earl's career during the broadcast.

Additional details on the tournament will be released at a later date.
