| PBA champion to have knee surgery On Friday, Oct. 12, three-time PBA titleholder Mike Miller will have orthroscopic surgery on his left knee in an attempt to correct an injury aggravated at a regional tournament in Las Vegas in early September. Miller, ranked 36th in the PBA World Point Rankings, had the same surgery performed on the knee in 1991 and then on the right knee in 1999. “I think it has a lot to do with the no-thumb thing,” said Miller about his unique bowling style. I have to use my legs a lot more and bowl a truck-load of games to stay sharp.” “Right now, I’m only good for two days. Tournaments are four days long. So, it’s time to get the knee cleaned up.” “It seems like this happens whenever I’m bowling well,” said Miller, who won a regional event last summer in preparation for the upcoming season. The other two times came just after two of my tour titles (PBA National Championship, ’91; Albuquerque, N.M., ’99).” Miller’s goal is to be active on tour by January. |
