Detroit Women's Bowling Association

By Rose Marsh

We're busy little beavers - finally getting a lot of mail and sanction applications to process. Another reminder, the cards are being mailed to each individual so be sure to open any mail you get with the bowling association address. It will not be "junk" mail, your membership card will be in the envelope. And, this season, the average will be listed. It certainly was an inconvenience last season when the average was not printed on the card. It's really a convenience, especially when you're bowling in a tournament and need to list the previous season average.

We've asked the secretaries to be sure to check the membership application cards for legibility and correct addresses. We're still getting a few cards, especially if they are new members, where the ladies fail to print their name and address and the signature is a blur. Because we don't get a list of the league bowlers, short of calling the secretary, we do our best to decipher the name. If it isn't correct, please let us know so we can correct it in the computer.

Has your league had a meeting to vote on your prize list? This should be done by thefifth week of bowling. When preparing the prize list, consideration should be given to what the last place team will get. As they pay as much as the first place team, they should get a fair share of the prize money. You need all your bowlers and you want them to be happy.

State Tournament entries should be at most bowling establishments, especially wherea workshop was held. The tournament will be held in Bay City and not a long distance for most bowlers. If you cannot find an entry, they are available at our office. If interested, call (586) 773-3050 and we'll mail and entry and see that the bowling center has some available.
